Our Hen & Stag Matlock Treasure hunt is something a bit different and a great fun daytime activity. If you are visiting somewhere new with a night out planned it is a great way of getting to know the area as it takes you past many local attractions and places of interest, Peak Rail, The River Derwent, The Clock Tower and County Hall, (great for spotting all the bars and restaurants around too).
What you get! Our DIY hen and stag treasure hunts are pre written so all you need to do is buy one and you're set with everything you need including directions, clues, extra tasks, a map, the answers and suggestions for organising your hunt. You can order a printed hunt which we will post to you, or you can buy a downloadable hunt to print yourself or view on smartphones, ipads, kindles etc. Hunts are available all year round (and probably much cheaper than hiring a tour guide)

How Long?
The hunt will take up to two hours to complete however if you are planning on including pub stops it may take a bit longer!!!

5 A5 treasure hunt booklets, which is sufficient for up to 20 participants (working in 5 teams of 4) to do the Matlock hunt. You can purchase extra treasure hunt booklets for smaller teams or a larger group. (please note, as a team building activity we recommend no fewer than 3 and no more than 5 in a team.) Each Matlock hunt booklet has a space for the team name, a map, directions, clues and additional scavenger tasks.

Getting the links

Our PLUS4 version is just that! You get the full colour personalised Matlock hen or stag treasure hunt booklets etc as above PLUS we add 4 extra pages to each hunt booklet with 4 clues and pictures you have sent to us to add! Our Matlock hen or stag treasure hunts – Printed and Download versions - what are they all about? You are told where to start your treasure hunt, given simple directions to follow and a map of the area. In between directions you have things to hunt for by simply looking around on buildings, plaques, signs and statues etc. You will also be set some extra scavenger tasks to complete. These are optional and include collecting things, photo opportunities and other fun activities! The aim of the hunt is to gain as many points as possible by answering the clues correctly and completing the extra tasks.
When you have completed your treasure hunt get back together maybe at a bar or restaurant to mark the answers “pub quiz style” and if you visit the members area on our website you can personalise and print your very own huntfun certificates. (There is no actual treasure at the end by the way sorry!) The winning team is the one with the most points!
Wheelchair access. Most of the route is passable but there are some steep inclines on the route and not all road crossing points en-route have dropped kerbs.
When you buy one of our GPS hen or stag treasure hunt packs this is what you get! A link containing everything you need to run your hen or stag GPS treasure hunt. We include full instructions so the organiser can personalise and set up the hunt ready for use. You will receive links to print out handouts needed too.
Our hen or stag treasure hunts – GPS versions - what are they all about? Organisers can set a start and finish point and the time the teams have to complete the hunt in. It is then up to each team to navigate their way to the ’huntfun hotspots’’ where challenges including clues to answer and tasks and activities to be completed can be accessed. Teams will be awarded points for correctly completing the challenges set. Scores are calculated real time so you are able to see how you and the other teams are doing throughout the hunt. The aim of the hunt is to gain as many points as possible in the allocated time. You will earn bonus points for getting to the finish early and penalty will be deducted if you are late! Strategy and team work are needed to plan your route carefully to ensure you get as many points as possible and if you access a ’hint’ only half the points available will be awarded!
